Most singles best ringless voicemail providers only use something called an ATA adapter but never really explain to you how it actually works. Basically, there are two methods that the technology will send a ringtone to a particular phone. The first is to simply double-click the numerical phone number, followed by a pause, followed by a dial tone. Then you press a number on your adapter to talk to a live agent. Obviously, this takes some of the mystery out of the whole process, but it still doesn't solve a few important problems. First, many providers only offer ATA adapters for a small price, but this is a rather ineffective solution. Why? Because many times you can tell a lot about the quality of a company just from their call rates! It's much more reliable to know exactly what you're paying for when it comes to your telephone service, so that you can make sure you're getting the best deal possible. Second, most ringless voicemail providers only support a few phones with their equipment. Even if a given company has a ton of equipment, it will not support all of the carriers that your mobile device uses. This means that you could get a ringtone delivered to your cell phone, but then have difficulty hearing it when you try to pick it up. Most other providers offer voicemails for just a few carriers out of the box, but these are usually set up specifically for the individual carrier that the customer signed up with. So this means that you can get a different message on a different phone. Third, even when they do have any extras that you'd like, ringless voicemails often come with very short messages that don't give you much to look forward to. Many singles voicemail providers send their messages in groups of four, so you might get an email follow-up that you hadn't requested, and then another message seven days later. The worst part is that sometimes companies will forget to send you a follow-up message for months. Fourth, many singles voicemail providers actually include in their packages a number of different recording software programs. These programs are great for sending voicemails and storing them, but they're not really that useful if you're looking to do more with your voicemails. With most of these software programs you have to configure the messages you want to record on each of the recordings, add your phone number to the list, then select from a variety of different sounds that the software recognizes as being typical of what you might be talking about. That said, if you're going to be spending some time composing a new message, it's much better to use some of these software programs, which allow you to record a message and store it as a MP3 file. After all, you'll be able to listen to your messages from virtually anywhere there's an available computer with an internet connection: even when you're on the go! All in all, despite the fact that singles voicemail providers are extremely convenient and inexpensive, there are a few drawbacks that you need to be aware of. First, there's the issue of forgetting to record a voice message. Even if you've set up your account with a reputable company, you could easily forget to record your missed call if you're on the road or spend too much time composing a message and hitting the "save" button without finishing it. Also, while the majority of these services offer unlimited use, this doesn't mean that you can never use up the minutes that you've paid for.
